50th Anniversary Poem Example
Jamie and Laura Capello
Made it fifty years as one.
Mom and Dad, you’re just the best,
Always so much fun!
You raised a loving family,
Six kids who had nineteen.
And now great grandkids in the fold,
It’s gotta be a dream!
I think about your life,
A matter of positioning.
And how you made it big
In a biz of air conditioning.
It’s so much fun to be a part
Of everything together.
Lunch and dinner are matters of course
In bright or stormy weather.
And all those trips to Mississip,
The ones mom always plots.
She loves to play her blackjack,
While dad’s yen is poker slots.
Meanwhile in Miami,
Richie and I keep all on ice.
The biz stays hot, it means a lot,
For the family that is nice.
We travel now and then,
Hawaiian gliding went the folks.
I bolted before the take-off,
To this day I still hear jokes.
Mom and dad love good times,
On that you can be clear.
But eating’s something else, you see,
And less than perfect, I fear.
Not for mom, she’ll eat it all,
From lobster to Cantonese
But dad, he’s such a picky guy,
At the table, so hard to please.
That’s culinary history,
Family lore is something fina.
We are Bocky, Richie, Dr. Steve,
Sara, Wendy and, of course, Ina.
And neatest thing of all, you see,
In fact, it’s surely truish.
We love our special blend:
Dad’s Catholic, Mom is Jewish.
We celebrated holidays
From Hanukah to Yule.
Doubling up on the tradition…
And double presents was, well, cool!
Now mom reads her romance novels,
And dad tinkers with things that break.
That’s how fifty years fly by,
Half a century, for goodness sake!
Dad driving his Mercedes,
He’s had, to date, some four.
And mom, our loving gourmand,
Planning meals and the next big tour.
To mom and dad we send our wishes,
And now – we hope you’ll know.
With anniversary dreams forever,
And a toast with dad’s best merlot!
