Candle Lighting Poems - An Example

It's my bar mitzvah day,
What a joy for me.
So glad you all could make it
Here with my family.

Today I am a man,
That's the Jewish way,
Amidst the celebratin',
There's much for me to say.

We have a nifty custom,
One that sparkles ever bright.
To share the moment with special ones,
By wondrous candle light.

So when I call your name,
Please rise and join me here.
It's an honor, truly,
And a matter of good cheer.

Candle 1 is dedicated
To those who really rule.
I refer to all my pals
From Ward and other schools.

Candle 2 is lovely,
Truly diamond-bright,
For all my city girlfriends
Who are truly out of sight.

My dearest oldest pals,
Some from 2 years old.
Really special friends,
All as good as gold.

Larry first, then Emily,
Alexander, Philip, Clay.
You kids get candle 3,
Come up and make my day.

Rosa was my nanny,
Housekeepers Maria and Trish, for sure.
Practically family members,
Come on, light candle 4.

Friends we always travel with,
Vegas, Florida, all over the place.
You folks are really great,
In any time or case.

The Beckers and the Jacksons,
And, of course, the Macks.
Candle 5 has your names on it,
Light it up, come on, make tracks.

I've got a wealth of cousins,
As you'll for sure soon see.
Nicolas, Siri, Sabine,
India, Matthew, Tea.

But hold on now, there's more,
Andrew and Nina are sure picks.
Then William, Thomas and Julia,
Come right up for candle 6.

Now a candle to remember
Two great ladies, lots of love.
My Nana, grandma, bless her,
As bright as stars above.

And Halmony, my great grandma,
Looking down from heaven.
For both of you, in sweet memory,
I'll light candle 7.

Emo is Mom's sister,
Like a second Mom to me.
Uncle Reto, her husband,
They're wonderful, you see.

Uncle Jason, too,
And Aunt Ginny, who are great.
All of you, please join me,
And let's light candle 8.

Grandpa and Umma from California,
Coming a long way.
Umma is the world's best cook,
Her meals make any day.

Grandpa takes me shopping,
Always just so fine.
I love you folks so much,
Please, come light candle 9.

Mollie is my sister,
We used to fuss and fight.
Now we get along
And everything's alright.

She's a student at NYU,
With plans to sing and act.
Got a wonderful voice,
Candle 10's for YOU, in fact.

Mitchell is my brother,
Best big bro you ever saw.
We're artists, he and I,
You should see the way we draw!

David opened an art gallery,
With Jodie, his great girlfriend.
Hey, you guys, candle 11.
And may it burn without an end.

My Dad is truly special,
He thinks his singing is a boon.
But just between you and me,
He can't even carry a tune.

Nuts for golf and squash and any sport,
And loves to collect his art.
Dad, you get candle 12
'Cause I love you with all my heart.

Mom, what can I say?
You're my rock, indeed it's true.
I love exploring new restaurants,
And traveling around with you.

You mean the world to me,
You're really peachy keen.
Mom, because I love you,
Come light candle 13.

One more candle just for luck,
And thanks to all of you.
With wishes for peace and health and joy,
In all that you may do.

I thank you much for coming,
To share this special day.
You made it unforgettable
In every single day.

So now I light this candle,
Number 14 is the one.
For all of us together,
And a life of cheer and sun.
